DE Filter Cleaning
Most filter manufacturers recommend backwashing the system when it has built up 5-10 PSI of pressure over the clean starting level as indicated on the system’s pressure gauge. DE filters typically build up these pressure levels in approximately 1 to 3 months. Even with routine backwashing, DE filters accumulate debris that is not fully removed with a backwash. It is strongly advised that your filter be dismantled and cleaned, or as we commonly refer to it as Break and Clean, at least once a year. This affords an opportunity to check internal elements for wear and tear, and to ensure that the filter is working at peak efficiency.
